BLAZERS HOCKEY SPECIFIC TRAINING

Joe Scali

Joe Scali, like so many Canadians grew up playing hockey . After playing Junior A Hockey, he received a scholarship to play for Cornell University. After graduating from Cornell, Joe played professional hockey in Texas for two years. With his elite background in competitive sports and his passion for training, he decided to pursue a career in the fitness industry. Beginning his career as a personal trainer, he enjoyed the ability to change people’s lives through the value of fitness. After being introduced to CrossFit, Joe was hooked immediately after completing his first WOD, which he describes as a humbling experience. Ultimately, Joe fell in love with the sport of CrossFit, as it gave him a second chance at becoming a competitive athlete. Only months after, in qualified for CrossFit Regionals, where he finished 20th overall. In 2013, he competed with a Team, finishing 4th overall. After finishing 77th in the world during the CrossFit Open in 2014, he went on to finish 4th as an individual in Canada West, just missing the CrossFit Games. His passion for training and vast experience in the fitness industry led Joe to open Semiahmoo Athletic Club.

As the head trainer for Semiahmoo Athletic Club Joe works with some of the top athletes in the Pacific North West in hockey and other sports as he helps elevate their development on to the next level.
